Support the ALAS Pop Up Food Pantry for essential and farmworkers in our community.

$120,000 goal

When COVID hit, ALAS began a pop up food pantry for essential and farmworkers in our community. With the combination of the pandemic and the rising cost of rent and cost of living on the coast, ALAS has steadily seen a critical need for our food pantry.

Families have shared with us:

"The food pantry is what is helping keep food on our table because we are not making it right now."

"We are saving up all we have to be able to make our rent payment, so having the healthy food and cards you are giving us is really important for our family. Thank you to those helping us."

ALAS wanted to create a healthy food program that gave our farmworker community and families veggies and choice over what they need in the process. At each food pantry ALAS gives each individual a bag of veggies we purchase in addition to veggies donated. We also buy fresh milk, eggs, tortillas, rice, beans, and additional staples that families need, like oil, corn meal, oatmeal etc. We also give each family a $15 food card so they can buy much needed items like toiletries, protein, cheese, fruit etc. This has been critical during such a tough time for many.

For one month of food our cost that ALAS pays for the pop up food pantry is $15,000. When we first started the food pantry we had it every Saturday, but due to a shortfall of funds we switched to twice a month for the year 2022. We are feeding 150+ cars, and a walk up line shows up each week which extends to feeding 250 plus families each Saturday. Thank you for partnering with ALAS!
