State Parks and Beaches on the Peninsula’s dramatic Pacific Coast attract over 2 million annual visitors seeking recreation and inspiration. Camping, hiking to explore beaches, marshes, and redwood forests, tide pooling, whale watching, and learning about history along the coast are just some of the activities visitors enjoy.

These parks encompass areas of remarkable natural beauty, habitat for endangered and protected species, and sites of historical significance to Native and early California cultures. Sacramento chronically underfunds State Parks. Your local beaches and parks need your help.

Coastside State Parks Association (CSPA) is the official nonprofit fundraising partner for 15 state parks and beaches on the coast of San Mateo County. By giving to CSPA, you will help fund programs and projects to:

  • improve park facilities
  • train volunteer docents
  • install interpretive exhibits and displays
  • restore natural habitats
  • improve recreational access

To learn more, visit CSPA’s website at www.CoastsideStateParks.org.

Coastside State Parks Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and has been a California State Parks Cooperating Association since its incorporation in 1990.

Giving Activity

Mission

CSPA’s Mission: “to inspire public appreciation and stewardship of the natural resources and cultural heritage of the San Mateo Coast, in partnership with California State Parks.”

CSPA provides funding for programs and projects that enrich visitors’ experiences, that protect natural resources, and that augment the state’s budget. Examples are funding for volunteer docent programs, interpretive exhibits and signs, youth programs, habitat restoration, and facilities improvements, particularly for accessibility.

Needs

We anticipate that the upcoming projects below may be some of the most ambitious and costly that CSPA has ever undertaken. Please consider us in your charitable giving!

Key Upcoming & Ongoing Projects & Programs funded by CSPA:

- Montara SB – New staircase engineering

- Pigeon Point Light Station SHP – Tower restoration and grounds refurbishment as needed

- Ano Nuevo SP – Staging area engineering and entrance building construction, Possible solar

- Ongoing – School programs, Support of Docents, Volunteers, Park improvements, Events

Repairs to the lighthouse structure are, by far, the biggest and most expensive part of the overall project. While that work is being done, we can focus, plan and fundraise for the next steps including repairing the rotating carriage of the Fresnel lens, new interpretive signage and improvements to the grounds and restrooms. All funds raised during this year's Coastside Gives event will go directly to those efforts.
