Our goal has always been to help our Vets and families as well as
promoting community, education and local sports. We also sponsor students to attend Boy's State and Girl's State. We provide a free dinner for all, Vets and general public, on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Families often use our outdoor facility for memorial services for our passing Vets. Our town picnic is always well attended on the fourth of July. We provide a place for Vets of all ages and their families to get together, socialize and find support on a daily basis.
With funds raised, we would like to upgrade our dance floor to more safely accommodate our visually and physically challenged vets and their guests. We have an aging building, so facility improvements are an ongoing challenge.
Coastside Post 474’s past activities have centered around service to its members and the community of the Half Moon Bay, California Coastside. All of Post 474’s events and programs aim to promote the Four Pillars of the American Legion: Veterans Affairs and & Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism and Children and Youth. Activities and programs have been staffed by unpaid members, officers, directors, and volunteers. Post 474 has operated a bar for its members, offered community concerts, the annual Fourth of July Town Picnic, Vets to Vets Music Festival and numerous events for the community and veterans.

Supporting our veterans and community
This is a call for HELP
Since 1934, American Legion Post 474 has proudly served our local veterans and community. Our post is more than a meeting place – it is a home for veterans, a support system for families, and hub for community service.
Through the dedication of our volunteers and members, Post 474 provides:
• Support for local veterans and their families
• Assistance with benefits and resources
• Youth and scholarship programs
• Community events, and outreach
• Honor guard and memorial services
• A safe place for fellowship and healing
These programs and services do not happen without funding. Like many nonprofit organizations our post relies heavily on donations, fundraising, and community support to operate. Your contributions help cover essential expenses, such as building maintenance, utilities, insurance, equipment, program, materials, and veteran assistance efforts.
Without these funds, it becomes increasingly difficult to continue serving those who have served our country. Every dollar donated stays right here in our community and directly supports our veterans and local programs. We respectfully ask for your support, thank you.
