Coastside Child Development Center (CCDC) has been serving children on the coastside of San Mateo County since 1978. We are a non-profit early learning and early intervention program for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. We serve children from the communities from Pescadero to Montara.
Coastside Child Development Center is a leading not‐for‐profit provider of early childhood education and early intervention services for children from birth to age five. CCDC's unique structure benefits all children in our inclusive learning environment which serves typically developing children as well as children who have delays in social/emotional development, children with behavioral health problems, children with special needs, and children who have been exposed to abuse and violence.
Decades of research indicate that the early years of life are a period of exponential brain development, characterized by great opportunity and vulnerability. Our mission is to provide opportunity and minimize vulnerability in every child that we serve, and we believe that all children are entitled to an environment in which they can develop to their maximum potential and we are committed to giving all families access to our services regardless of background or income.
We’re excited to share that Coastside Child Development Center (CCDC), serving the Coastside since 1978, has received a building permit to expand early childhood education, early intervention, and child care services for our community!
This facility will allow CCDC to serve an additional 22 infants & toddlers, addressing a critical shortage of infant and toddler child care across the Coastside. This expansion represents a significant investment in the well-being of local families and children.
Our community is facing a critical shortage of child care slots, leaving parents struggling to balance work, stability, and their children’s early learning and development needs. This gap affects everyone in our community!
Early intervention is the foundation of our program. The connections in a baby’s brain are more adaptable in the first three years of life. These connections are the foundation for learning behavior and health. Over time these connections become harder to change. The earlier developmental delays are detected and interventions begins, the greater the chance a young child has of achieving his or her best potential. Early intervention services can change a child’s path and improve outcomes for children, families, and our community.
Investing in early intervention programs creates lasting benefits for our entire community. By addressing the developmental and special needs of infants and toddlers early, we can reduce the future need for costly services within the public school system, healthcare, social services, and even the criminal justice system. The economic benefits of early intervention are substantial, with studies indicating that for every dollar invested in early intervention, there is a return of up to $7.30 in economic benefits.
