Coastside Community Orchestra is the "Sound of Classical Music for the Coastside," presenting full symphony orchestra concerts here in town since 1983.
Music is our mission. And reaching the kids in our schools with opportunities to explore and enjoy music is our passion. This year, Half Moon Bay's "100+ Women Who Care" honored us with a grant to lend support for our outreach in the community. Here's how we make our music resonate in Half Moon Bay:
- Our eminently affordable, immersive concert experiences. This season we brought Half Moon Bay's only full-featured organ into focus with a stirring performance of the great 19th-century Rheinberger organ concerto! Our audiences also enjoyed Copland's "Appalachian Spring," Beethoven's famous Fifth Symphony, and beautiful works for smaller ensembles in our annual chamber concert.
- In addition to our three orchestra and chamber concerts, we organized and presented "music day" assemblies in all the elementary schools so grade-schoolers could get "up close and personal" introductions to all the instruments of the band and orchestra.
- In 2024, CCO partnered with Beach Break Entertainment to present a special districtwide assembly, "For the Love of Music," on Valentine's Day! The assembly featured the film "Philharmonia Fantastique," an endearing and inspirational introduction to the instruments of the orchestra, which was seen by ALL 700+ third- through fifth-graders in our district.
- Each year CCO recognizes a talented and dedicated high school musician at the HMBHS May Awards Assembly, presenting a $1,000 award to help encourage post-high school participation in music activities.
- We've donated instruments to our school bands, CCO orchestra members have joined "in the pit" for Half Moon Bay High musicals, and we often welcome young instrumentalists from the local schools, Coastside, and the Peninsula to play side by side with us for season concerts.
Your contribution today helps us develop programs to expand our reach to the kids in our Coastside schools, where music education is especially in need of support from community organizations like ours!

Through performance, education, and shared passion, we strive to connect generations and enrich lives through orchestral music.
Needs
Donations will help defray operating costs, and most importantly, support the Orchestra's music initiatives in the community, including our scholarships for graduating seniors and our concerts.
