Sammy asks for your help to finish Big Wave

As a young adult, Sam can’t wait to move into his new apartment at Big Wave. Resources for adults like Sam fall off the cliff once they turn 22 and leave the school system. Sam is extremely social and wants to be around his own community and friends, and he longs for a sense of independence. He has lots of plans for singing karaoke and holding dance and pizza parties, as he loves music and people. He needs community around him to thrive and be happy, but like many adults with special needs, he requires our help to create this structure for him. Although we’ve begun construction on the Big Wave Center, we need your help to complete many parts, such as the training kitchen and day program area for continuing education and job skills, and the event space courtyard and outdoor kitchen for community events and training classes.  We also need help funding the apartments for adults with special needs who have extremely limited resources.

Big Wave will be so much more than just housing – it will be a center and a “hub” for adults with special needs from all over the Bay Area to learn, grow, and build friendships.
