Linda Bennett LOVED HAM Radio and Emergency Communications. In 2008, Linda was faced with an emergency situation when her neighbor's tractor overturned and he was severely injured. Of course, there was no cell service available. Linda had just received her HAM license so she got on the radio. Her call was answered, 911 was called and Linda performed CPR until First Responders arrived. Unfortunately, it was too late for her neighbor. Since then, Linda has been there, in a leadership role, for every emergency until her health forced her to step down.
Recently, the SC4ARC Board voted to make Linda an honorary member and to present her with a Special Achievement Award to recognize her exceptional service to both the SC4 Amateur Radio Club and to SC4ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Services). ARES also recently presented Linda with an ARRL Certificate of Achievement. She served on the Board of SC4ARC for 9 years and she held the position of San Mateo Coastside Amateur Radio Emergency Services Coordinator for 6 years, and Emergency Coordinator for the Southcoast for another 6 years. Her leadership skills always focused on helping others learn emergency communications through training and positive, constructive feedback. Linda's dedication to Amateur Radio is unparalleled. She has helped grow the Club into what it is today, and she has been there for every emergency.
Thanks to Alice's Restaurant, we are raising funds for SC4 Amateur Radio Club in Linda's memory.
