A New Chapter at Big Wave

In June, Will begins an exciting new chapter when he finally moves into his very own apartment at the Big Wave Center in Half Moon Bay. After 25 years--yes, 25 years!--of hard work, dedication, and support from friends, family, and the community, Big Wave is officially ready to open its doors.

For young adults like Will who have special needs, finding friends and a true sense of belonging can be a lifelong struggle. But at Big Wave, he’ll be part of a community of 40 peers where there is always something happening right outside his door. He can take classes to learn new job skills, explore a hobby, or work on becoming more independent. (Though when people ask him what he's most excited about, it’s definitely the pizza and karaoke nights!)

The Big Wave Center is almost finished, but we need one last boost to cross that final bridge. Please consider a donation to help us with these final, vital steps: finishing the lower-level community spaces and funding the scholarship apartments. Our hope is that Big Wave will become a hub for adults with special needs from all over the Bay Area—a place to learn, grow, and build lifelong friendships. Because we want everyone to feel welcome, these scholarships ensure the door is open to every family, regardless of their financial situation.
