Join Me to Create Hope in Our Community

My most rewarding "retirement job" has been supporting Coastside Hope as a volunteer and a Board member. In 2023 I helped the team to acquire a new home on Main Street in Half Moon Bay, with four times more space in an accessible location that is much more centrally located for the clients and provides space for a large food pantry and a community "hub" of partnered services.  Thanks to many in our community, the organization has been able to grow along with the needs. Our low-income neighbors in service and agricultural jobs contribute to the quality of life in our community every day, and in this high-cost area they need our help to live here and be there for us. 

Celebrating 50 years, Coastside Hope is a beacon of hope for the community, providing critical services with dignity and respect to thousands of neighbors annually. Coastside Hope is designated by San Mateo County as the primary safety net services agency for our community. They are a lifeline to 1 in 4 residents, representing over 7,000 individuals and 2,300 families, providing essential support and fostering stability, empowerment, and self-sufficiency in our community.

As neighbors helping neighbors, Coastside Hope firmly believes the overall health of the community measured by the treatment of all community members and the opportunity to thrive should be equitable.

With Necessities for Today, Coastside Hope provides essentials to build a stable foundation and Opportunities for Tomorrow allow our neighbors to improve their quality of life through empowerment and self-sufficiency, all at their trusted community hub conveniently located at 248 Main Street in the heart of  Half Moon Bay.
