OUR MISSION

ALAS is dedicated to working for social wellness through multicultural practices, mental health care, individualized and collective support related to education, immigration processes, and work, and advocating for the wellbeing of the whole community.

We envision a strong and engaged Latino coastal community, in which its people celebrate their identity and culture with pride and believe in their capacities to pursue their own dreams.

OUR PROGRAMS

Equity Express Bus

The Farmworker Equity Express Bus is a mobile resource center that brings internet, telehealth, education, and mental health services to our farmworkers on the Coast. 

Farmworkers

The farmworker community is a fundamental piece of the San Mateo Coastline society. ALAS' work consists of liaison and outreach, keeping close and continuous contact with the farms to know their needs. We collaborate with many organizations and different public institutions to bring services and take care of our farmworkers and their families.

Cultural Arts

Our cultural arts programs are ALAS' heart. We believe that coming together to celebrate our identities and our beautiful cultura is a powerful tool for collective healing and engagement. Through participating in our different programs, the youth and families who are the holders of our cultural wealth have become visible actors in our community.

Education

Education is the cornerstone of every community’s progress. At ALAS, we are committed to supporting our children and youth through their school years and helping them access higher education. We believe that investing in our youth’s education is the way towards our community’s brightest possible future.

Mental Health

At ALAS, we care about the mental health and wellbeing of our community. Our trained clinicians provide in-person support for individuals, couples, families, and groups. They speak both English and Spanish. Counseling is confidential and free.

Immigration

ALAS supports our immigrant community, provides a platform for their voices to be heard, and celebrates the journey that has brought them here. No matter their financial or legal situation, all newcomers are welcome to use the available resources and services.

Social Services

Our social services program strives to help the community cope with challenges they face in their everyday life. We believe in assisting clients with services that promote social change, development, and empowerment.
